E consult is a service introduced to this practice in May 2018 after a resilience training programme with London South Bank University and with detailed discussion with the practice PPG. It is a robust tool which meets GMC requirements regarding patient records. Because of these requirements it can take a little while to complete a request. We are pleased that many patients take time to submit their requests in this manner. It allows the practice to be able to organise services in an appropriate and timely manner and much more efficiently than using old-fashioned methods. Demand in general practice is such that using the old system patients would have to wait a number of weeks for an appointment to address their problem or request. This is still the case in many other practices around the country. With triage and E consult services the vast majority of our patients requests are addressed within days and very few go beyond a week. Some patients find it hard to deal with change but we hope that by using these services they will appreciate the benefits compared to having long waiting times otherwise.
