TELEPHONE TRIAGE 1st NOVEMBER 2017
There has been difficulty meeting demand for primary care services at Addison Road and this is also the case throughout the NHS. We have had discussions with the patient participation group who have asked us to improve the way patient requests are dealt with including allocation of appointments and improving non-face-to-face communication (telephone, post, text messaging and patient access).
The practice has been involved with London South Bank University in planning and instituting improvements in line with robust and proven scientific and management strategies.
As a result we will be introducing the clinical triage system requested by the patient participation group from 1 November 2017. This should bring a lot of improvements including better communication and more effective use of the appointments available.
We are working on problems with the online appointments system which has proved very inefficient on many occasions to date.
There are likely to be further minor adjustments, we believe that from the first November there will be a major improvement for all involved. We hope that patients will soon realise that there is no urgency in contacting the surgery at 8:30 AM or 2 PM, they will be able to get an appropriate same-day response to their requests much more frequently than has been possible in the past.
